I grew up there, between the fjord and the mountains, and learned to love nature and the joy of simple things.
|Doesn't get any more Norwegian than this ;)|
I was always crafty, a trait I have from both my Mum (who is superb with everything handmade) and my Dad (who has built several buildings by himself, and is super-handy). As a kid, I liked horses, and drawing most of all (and was quite good, actually), but sadly life got in the way, and there has been so little time for drawings.. Horses, on the other hand, has been a big part of my life, but I have now been without one since April -14.
In the year 2010, I bought my own house, together with my "boyfriend" Tommy (it sounds so lame, when we're nearly 40...). We share it with our beloved birdies, BlueBoy and Pipsqueek, and an unknown number of fish. There is about 2000 liters of tanked water dotted throughout our home.
We both work at the same place, at a cable factory in Drammen, Norway. (Yes, we met at work;))
I guess I'm bit of a modern day Rosie the Riveteer, in my navy blue overalls, greasy fingers and spanner in back pocket, while driving a forklift. It is as far from glamour and ladylike living as you can get, but it pays the bills ;)
I just started sewing the spring/summer 2013. I dabbled with my Mothers sewing machine when I was little and had home-ec. in school. My Dad (!) taught me how to knit when I was 5. I vaguely remember some questionable "refashions" as a teenager, but I've never actually made garments before. I love the online sewing community, and making clothes for myself. I dream of one day having an entire me-made wardrobe, and finally have "something to wear"! I am not a fan of poor fit, poor quality and the poor working conditions for many people in the industry. I absolutely adore vintage, but realized that there is only so much left of clothing from yesteryear, so sewing from vintage patterns is my solution to the problem :)
I hope you enjoy my journey into sewing and knitting, as much as me!
